The last drive I went to in the US was in Houston with some relatives in 1980s. When I heard about them in Oz, I had jumped at the chance see a big like I did when I was teenager on the big screen outdoors. I love to get big bucket of popcorn and soda. If you have gone ot these places, it takes you back to a time when America had drive in theaters. I love going to the drive and it is always fun.

I always a giant soda to with popcorn and candy. I know I can have picnic well. Going to these places is always fun. the trick is get there early because place can overcrowd quickly.  I love to go places that unique and take some adventure for me. These theaters are miles stone and always go for planning get togethers. I love to put the squawk box on the door of my car and it is always enjoyable.

With all that is going on in the world, I like take a break from the stress of every day life. The art form of Bonsai goes  thousands of years. but, planting and having them in the house does create an atmosphere to relieve stress. As a student, it makes sense to have a hobby that can relieve stress. I was introduced to Bonsai from a friend and taught me how these trees do relieve stress. I like the feel of the Bonsai and how it adds sense of claim to a living space and how it brightens up a room. It makes it peaceful. Peace is what we all need in lives filled with hustle and bustle. These trees do just that. This is one of favorite hobbies that I have had for a long time. Good pot, good soil and place to put are key. This why I enjoy having them in my living space because of the peace and serenity they bring. Especially adjusting to life in Australia. Now, I don't have to experience culture shock coming from the US.

    Krav Maga in Oz

    Krav Maga Exercise

One of thing I have just started is an Israeli Martial Art called Krav Maga. I took it up because I needed the exercise and want to be to protect myself for self defense only.In Krav Maga, you do get plenty of exercise and learn to break a sweat.  It is very fast paced. It teaches you discipline and good concentration skills. It helps me focus better and be more relaxed. It does relieve stress. As I advance I will learn how to protect myself from attackers with guns and knives.  It teaches you how to disarm attackers that can do serious bodily harm. The first rule in Krav Maga is avoid to attacking people. My goal with it is if I decide to become a criminal prosecutor that I will need it because the bad guys will hunt down criminal prosecutors for sending them to jail.As a future prosecutor, I need every advantage that I can get.

Here is a little background on Krav Maga.It was original a self defense system developed for the Israeli Army. It is purpose is wart off attackers.  It is design to protect you and the people that you care about. Protecting people from bodily harm is what I believe in. It has these levels

This is good exercise and do break a sweat. I do feel good after the classes. There many things that I like about it. The most important thing that is that I do notice big difference in the way can concentrate on reading, listening and writing in my daily life. Also, I like the exercise part of it. I know having this skill can protect me from harm. Most people would just let the police it and just take it. My response is this . I want to protect myself and the people I care about most. Plus, I get health benefits from it. That is the most important part of all.

The most important rule is to avoid harm. Secondly, I want to protect people around me like if a bad guy is in the same grocery store that I am in I will step forward to handle him quickly and take his weapon away and get away from him give it the manager to wait for the police, so they can take him away to jail. It comes in handy dealing for people rioting that threaten you after a footy game that didn't go their way and you come out a restaurant or milk bar to go home. It can wart off rapists and robbers so that you do not cause problems. My first response is to protect others around to make sure they are safe and ok.

As a future criminal prosecutor, I definitely see plenty of benefits from a health standpoint and improving mental concentration. Criminal prosecutor do have to protect themselves because they are targets from criminal that want to harm the prosecutor for putting them in jail for doing criminal activities. These days anything can happen. You never know what people are capable of. I want always avoid fights and belief that any fighting to should be a very last resort when all else fails.

I will tell story a long time ago, I found out about it and my friend in the US wanted me to take up yoga. I said yoga won't protect me from attackers. I was determined to learn something of practical value. This fits that bill. I have better concentration and feel good after going classes. Your hand and eye coordination improves. Here is sample video of it.

I know that having this on my side that improves my overall health and well being. I can recommend highly it from my own experience with it. The good news is the perfect exercise for getting in shape. It is an adventure in itself especially in Australia. Krav Maga is making its way into Oz. It can build self esteem, too.

Cooking a Thanksgiving Turkey in Oz

One of my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. It is not celebrate in Australia. But, for our purposes and people who are American it is. The real purpose of this tell how to cook a turkey properly. Many people don't know how. Questions come up like what is the right temperature. How long do I cook it for. This recipe answers all of those lingering questions. So invite friends and even your Aussie neighbors next door and pass out invitations to Thanksgiving. It will be hit. I like to shop at butcher to get one just right. I place my order the week before. I want to be first the get the best bird. My butcher know me by name. He knows exactly the size bird that I want. Sure enough the bird is as big as Texas.

I like to the cooking of the Turkey with some Aussie Flair. It does work for me. The magic of what goes into cooking a bird for Thanksgiving is very easy to cook and your guests will light up with ooooooz and aaaawwws. This turkey will become very Aussie faster than a bunch of Mexican Jumping Beans with a Mariachi Band playing. It will chant Oi Oi Oi Aussie Aussie before it comes out of the oven. For this recipe let get down how to cook this wonderful bird. Here are the ingredients and directions:

     Ingredients

1   30 pound whole turkey, neck and giblets removed

        2 cups kosher salt

        1/2 cup butter, melted

2 large onions, peeled and chopped

        4 carrots, peeled and chopped

        4 stalks celery, chopped

        2 sprigs fresh thyme

        1 bay leaf

        1 cup dry white wine

    Directions

Rub the turkey inside and out with the kosher salt. Place the bird in a large stock pot, and cover with cold water. Place in the refrigerator, and allow the turkey to soak in the salt and water mixture 12 hours, or overnight.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Thoroughly rinse the turkey, and discard the brine mixture.
Brush the turkey with 1/2 the melted butter. Place breast side down on a roasting rack in a shallow roasting pan. Stuff the turkey cavity with 1 onion, 1/2 the carrots, 1/2 the celery, 1 sprig of thyme, and the bay leaf. Scatter the remaining vegetables and thyme around the bottom of the roasting pan, and cover with the white wine.
Roast uncovered 3 1/2 to 4 hours in the preheated oven, until the internal temperature of the thigh reaches 180 degrees F (85 degrees C). Carefully turn the turkey breast side up about 2/3 through the roasting time, and brush with the remaining butter. Allow the bird to stand about 30 minutes before carving.

Now, after cooking the turkey after 3 1/2 to 4 hours, it will be ready for  the meal. The key to cooking is do it early in the afternoon way before any guests arrive. This gives you plenty of time to get the other items that you plan on cooking for the Thanks Giving meal. The magic is this bird is made with love of family and friend to share it with. No matter where you are in the world.

This bird is smells Aussie all way and soooo good. It is juicy and tender. It makes it a perfect honor for the male guest to do the carving. It is a tradition that I have been doing since I was a kid. But, seeing the bird and the wonderful smels and setting on the table is what give me the pleasure to do it right every year. That is secret and beauty of it. If you would like this recipe, you can click the link below. It is new feature that I have added. I believe food and recipes are worth sharing. The recipe is free. That is right Free. So come and get it. Here is the link below
