Texas Blueberry Pie is always a winner

Now, then and I make blueberry pie. This pie  is know widely now worldwide. It is a winner and can please even the most pickiest eater around. Now, it is easy to make this in Oz. The basic ingredients and how you make have not changed in a long time. The great thing about making blue berry pie is that anyone can make it and it tastes just as good coming out of the oven. Blueberries are nature's candy through and through. It provides antioxidents. If you live in the US, you know that blueberries are cheaper when season. In the US, right now they are in season.

I had blueberry pie growing up and wanted every time that I could have it. It is secret is in the way it tastes and smells coming out the oven. Here is how you make it. The great thing is in Oz, they do carry blueberries and can get them at anytime. This makes it even better.

Ingredients

2 pints (to 3 Pints) Blueberries
    Sugar
1 dash (to 2 Dashes) Of Nutmeg
2 Tablespoons (to 3 Tablespoons) Flour (optional)
    2 whole Pie Crusts
1 stick Butter, Sliced Into Pats

Directions

In a large bowl place 2-3 pints of fresh blueberries. You want to coat them with regular white sugar, not too much, just enough to bring out the natural sweetness.

Next, just throw in  about a dash of nutmeg or two and add a few tablespoons of all purpose flour.

If you would prefer a pie that is more juicy you can leave out the flour.

You want to pour the blueberries into a pie crust and top with 8-10 small pats of butter.

Next, you cover with a second pie crust.

You want to press firm both edges together.

Then, you will start tucking the dough under as needed.

You start working all the way around the edge of the pie.

Start pinching the top and bottom crusts together, form the edge into a sort of lip.

You pinch the dough between your thumb and index finger all the way around the edge of the pie for a fluted look.

You cut three or four slits in the top of the pie for ventilation and allow the air circulation.

Bake in a 400 degrees Farenheit oven for approximately 35-40 minutes.

The best part of making blueberry pie is that you can serve with a dollop of vanilla ice cream to top it off. I like my pie a little warm and put a scope of vanilla ice cream right on top. I like to make this on weekend and makes easier to make and there is not a lot happening. I don't have feel like I am in a big rush. It is one of those recipes that you have with friends and serve it get togethers with friends, and classmates.

The smell of it coming out of the oven is pleasing and can win anyone over. That is the beauty of it. It is winner time and time. It has just the right amount of sweetness to it.  Enjoy and savor it with each bite. Growing up in Austin,Texas, it was always winner. Because I was always the first to ask about the blueberry pine and had my plate ready to move in for the slice of it.
